HABITRACK to the IWSG conference : 2026 edition!

The HABITRACK teams from CNRS-LRU and MNHN in France, and LUKE in Finland, gathered in Spain for the IWSG conference and brought plenty of work to share, with numerous posters and oral presentations throughout the event!

Pierrick Bocher (CNRS-LRU) kicked things off with a workshop presentation on the challenges of data along the East Atlantic flyway.

Anne-Christine Monnet (MNHN) presented the project’s objectives and one of its first achievements for the recommendations for conservation actions: the collective synthesis on the conservation of the Eurasian Curlew.

Lise Bartholus then shared ongoing work from the MNHN team on the dynamics of Common Snipe breeding populations across Europe in the context of hunting pressure.

Fanny also addressed hunting pressure in her study of the use of roost sites by the Eurasian Curlew in the Moëze-Oléron National Nature Reserve (France).

We followed Northern Lapwings from their breeding territories, presented in Laetitia Pirio’s poster (CNRS-LRU), to their wintering grounds, as presented by Emmanuel Joyeux (OFB). We also tracked the first autumn migration of Eurasian Curlews in a poster by Capucine Benoit-Grignard, Master’s student at CNRS-LRU.

As usual, Jimmy Allain closed the event with a great presentation on his findings on habitat selection and reproductive behaviour in female Ruffs!
