First batch of recommendations for conservation!

HABITRACK has just released its first set of recommendations for conservation from the synthesis of existing knowledge and new scientific outputs.

We released Policy Briefs for the project’s “proof-of-concept” species: the Eurasian Curlew. They result from the synthesis of the knowledge obtained from two decades of tracking data across Europe. This synthesis has also been published in Biological Conservation (Jiguet et al. 2026).

We released the first version of Policy Briefs for five shorebird and duck species, based on our first consolidated scientific results:

  • Common Redshank
  • Black-Tailed Godwit
  • Eurasian Wigeon
  • Northern Pintail
  • Common Pochard

Ongoing analyses will further enrich these Policy Briefs throughout the final year of the project (2027), and additional briefs for the other species among the 14 targeted by HABITRACK will follow. In the meantime, HABITRACK welcomes feedback from the community working on the conservation of these species.
