Eurasian Wigeon

The Eurasian Wigeon is a long-distance migratory, Arctic-breeding duck species that is one of the main carriers of Avian influenza (Keawcharoen 2008) and has therefore been tracked previously in Finland, the Netherlands and Germany (van Toor et al. 2021). As Eurasian wigeons are also declining and threatened by hunting and other environmental changes, their habitat use must be assessed in more detail to specify management strategies.
